Mari

Mari is a bold, expressive portrait that captures attitude and quiet self-assurance. Soft transitions, saturated reds, and loose brushwork create a sense of presence, drawing attention to the subtle tilt of her gaze and the strength held in her posture.

This study was created from a lesson by Laurie Johnson through Kara Bullock Art School. The lesson focused on painting a three-quarter portrait using loose, confident brushwork and learning to identify the shifting colours within the planes of the face.
